Before founding Euro Latina Finance in early 2010, Hakim Aouani spent 12 years at French-listed retailer Casino, where he served as Global Head of Mergers & Acquisitions, Equity Investments and Corporate Affairs.

Between 1998 and 2010, he played a central role in the Group’s international strategic transformation, supervising more than 350 M&A projects and over 120 completed transactions representing approximately US$10 billion of investment across Europe, Latin America, Asia and other international markets.

 

His track record includes numerous landmark deals, with more than 10 transactions exceeding US$1 billion in enterprise value. His experience spans minority and majority investments, listed and privately held companies, family-owned businesses, divestments, joint ventures and strategic partnerships, as well as complex shareholder arrangements and financial engineering transactions, including IPOs, real estate carve-outs and corporate reorganizations.

 

Mr. Aouani also managed Casino’s portfolio of strategic equity investments, with a particular focus on Latin America, where he led the deployment and oversight of more than US$5 billion in the region, including approximately US$3 billion invested in Pão de Açúcar in Brazil and US$1 billion in Almacenes Éxito in Colombia. He represented Casino on the boards of all key and listed subsidiaries in Europe, the US, Asia and Latin America.

 

Before joining Casino, Mr. Aouani spent eight years in investment banking at Banque Worms (now Deutsche Bank) and HSBC, respectively in leveraged buyout financing and M&A.

 

A French, Moroccan and Italian citizen, Mr. Aouani is a graduate of CentraleSupélec and HEC Paris. He speaks fluently French, English, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Arabic.

 

Passionate about international travel, Hakim Aouani is also an avid runner (half marathon and marathon) and a football player.
